La Sultana Marrakech

Tucked away at the heart of the Kasbah, within the walled medina of Marrakech is La Sultana Marrakech.

Near the Royal Palaces, La Sultana is a combination of 5 luxury riads. A mixture of various architectural styles: opulent and antique, modern and old-fashioned.

As per the Moroccan tradition, fresh mint tea is offered in the courtyard upon arrival indicating friendliness and respect for the guests.

The Sultana Marrakech offers 28 rooms and suites decorated by traditional artwork, textured fabrics and intricately carved woods in different styles signifying various historic periods. Ours was a slightly odd and dark horse-theme room with a Roman-style bathroom with columns and marble finishes, but comfortable and cosy at the same time.

Sadly, we didn’t have a chance to try their famous spa, but it looked absolutely beautiful.

The rooftop bar was excellent! The lounge area with green cushions and tiling is inspired by the hanging gardens of Babylon.

Small roof domes of neighbouring soukhs and riads, palm trees and exotic minaret towers stand against the distant landscapes in the Atlas Mountains.

Look down and you get a glimpse into the everyday lives of people at the medina’s food market.

The Odette Rooftop Bar and MezzĂ© offer cosmopolitan cuisine and an extensive selection of signature cocktails flavoured with Moroccan spices.

We thoroughly enjoyed both the cocktails and food as the sun was setting over this amazing city. A place to escape for a drink or a few, and soak in the ancient city views of Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains. The lanterns light up the whole terrace and the rooftop turns into a fairy tale of 1001 nights.

This hotel is a stone's throw from good restaurants, cafes and famous attractions. It is next to the historic site of the Saadian Tombs and Jamaa El Fna Square is only a 10-minute walk away.

Zeitoun Café Kasbah specialises in local cuisine and offers a stunning lantern-lit view of the Koutoubia Mosque no more than two minutes away.

La Sultana Marrakech is a cocoon of peace and serenity right in the centre of bustling Marrakech.

My stay was complimentary. Thank you La Sultana Marrakech for hosting us and for your hospitality. As always, all photos and opinions are my own. To experience La Sultana Marrakech for yourself, check them out here.
