Bucket list adventure - Glacier Hiking in Iceland

The glacier hike was the highlight of my trip to Iceland this month.

I teamed up with Asgard Beyond to take me on this amazing adventure in the South of Iceland.

The glaciers are a true natural phenomenon and it's amazing to be able to walk on ice that formed thousands of years ago! Sólheimajökull glacier is a part of Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland‘s fourth largest glacier that covers the infamous volcano Katla.

Bucket list adventure - Hot air balloon ride

There are not many things in life I would wake up at 4:30am.

The hot air balloon ride has been on my bucket list for what feels like forever, so getting up was easy!

The next hour was a whirlwind: a coffee and pastry breakfast, a safety briefing and a car journey 40km out of Prague to the take-off site.

My Top 5 Favourite Hotels

As a Travel writer, I have stayed in variety of hotels and looking back, I'd like to share my top 5 favourite hotels.

For me, luxury is not always about the marble bath-tub or exquisite spa, but about the location, ambience and service. Feeling looked after and stress free including experiencing something unique and new.

Below are five standouts - some quite new, some brand new to me, each having all it takes to let us experience the best of it all, be it a dream family holiday, romantic getaway, or a luxurious retreat.

My Guide To... Athens

Athens is a sprawling city settled among seven historic hills and surrounded by beautiful mountains. I was looking forward to exploring the birthplace of Western Civilisation and visiting all archaeological gems for a very long time.

It is quite incredible to think, Athens is a city that was born over 2,000 years ago. Even now the past hangs above the city, literally, in the shape of the incredible Acropolis dominating the city skyline.

If you’re wondering what the must-see places in Athens are, the list of places is immense – from historic places to modern architecture, Athens simply has so much to explore!

Emelisse Hotel in Fiskardo, Kefalonia

After a few very cultural and fun days in Athens, it was time to fly to Kefalonia, the largest island in the Ionian Sea for my best friend’s wedding.

There was some me-time to be had first. One flight and a taxi ride later, I arrived in Fiscardo, a picturesque harbor village on the Northern tip of Kefalonia. An island of rugged mountains, towering cliffs, and golden beaches.

Let me introduce you to the Emelisse Hotel.

Herodion Hotel, Athens

After having the most relaxing time just outside of Athens, we were ready to be right in the middle of the buzz of the city. We stayed at Herodion, beautiful hotel where modern design meets rich historical heritage. Work of contemporary Greek artists are present everywhere, from sculptures, photography to paintings.

Look at this masterpiece ‘Fingerprints’ by Christina Sarantopoulou standing proud right at the entrance. I love how it represents the sense of Herodion personal touch and the individuality of each guest that comes through the hotel door.
