Staying in Los Monteros Spa & Golf Resort, Marbella

It feels like an eternity since my chosen sister and I started planning our girls' weekend away.

With her having two tiny children to look after, it was not possible to go far nor longer than a weekend. But, having two full days with your best friend? Yes please and thank you!

We decided to stay in Los Monteros Spa & Golf Resort, hidden away from the Marbella crowds.

Our Los Monteros Suite was, naturally, very spacious and came with a separate living room and private terrace. Sleek and elegant interior with a sophisticated feel, with its neutral tones, earthy materials and tons of natural light, it had a serene feel to it.

A room fit for a princess! (or two)

The full poster bed was so incredibly comfortable, it was impossible to get out of it in the morning.

Chopard toiletries, fluffy bathrooms, double sink, and jacuzzi bath, what more could we ever need?

Spending the whole afternoon in La Cabane beach club relaxing by the pool, enjoying the sunshine and sipping on Sangria was the bomb. Listening to the sea from my sunbed, feeling the warm sun and gentle breeze on my skin.... Life was good!

We chatted for hours reminiscing about 'old days' cracking up the entire time and taking the occasional dip in a pool to cool down.

There is nothing better than a friend unless it is a friend with champagne.

Here is to everlasting sisterhood. 14 years of true friendship, as strong as ever.

Extensive grounds with luscious plants, excellent pool and sunbathing area, immaculate gardens, you can find a suite spot to relax and bask in the sunshine all around.

We enjoyed early evening cocktails by the hotel pool, before heading for the tapas bars and party the night away in Marbella Town.

Sipping on morning coffee hiding behind huge dark sunglasses was interrupted by a couple of crumbs thieves that decided to join us for the most important meal of a day.

Going on a girl's trip is important to remember why we fell in 'friend love'. We choose our friends. They help us to define who we are, are there for us when we need them and share their feelings and secrets with us. Friends are our family of choice, so it is important to spend quality time with those closest to us. And we couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate 'us'.

We may live in different countries, but the truth is it is not about being inseparable. It's being separated and absolutely nothing changes.

We had such a wonderful time in Los Monteros, we wished we could have stayed longer. Huge thanks to all the staff for taking such wonderful care of us.
