Royal Opera House BP Big Screens 2018: Swan Lake

If you like opera, then keep on reading!

The BP screens are back this summer with some of the most popular ballets and operas of all times: this year's line-up is Swan Lake, Le bohème and Don Giovanni. You can watch them free live from the Royal Opera House across 20 different cities in the UK, see the location map here.

The first production was of the most loved ballets of all times, Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.
I am passionate about opera and classical music so go every single year without a fail.
We came to Trafalgar Square early to get a good spot and set up a lavish spread of sushi, nibbles and of course, a bottle of fizz to suit this lovely occasion!
Clinking glasses is an important part of any toast, right?
The story of Swan Lake goes:
'Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting. When one of the swans turns into a beautiful woman, Odette, he is enraptured. But she is under a spell that holds her captive, allowing her to regain her human body form only at night. The evil spirit Von Rothbart, the arbiter of Odette's curse, disguises his daughter Odile as Odette to trick Siegfried into breaking his vow of love. Fooled, Siegfried declares his love for Odile, and so dooms Odette to suffer under the curse forever.'
The music to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake is absolutely incredible, especially this part, which puts a lump in my throat. Truly powerful music that brings sadness and joy, all at the same time.
Next on the show is Puccini's La bohème on 26th June at 7:30pm and lastly Mozart's Don Giovanni on 12th July at 7pm.

Make the most of the warm summer evenings this year. Pack a picnic and settle down in the summer sunshine to enjoy al fresco opera. The perfect date night. And for free!

See you there!
