Fru Nimb in Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen

Second day of our trip, we headed to Nimb Hotel for a spot of lunch.
Spotted few peacocks wandering around the gardens.
We chose their Fru Nimb, classic Danish sandwich restaurant focusing on using local and organic produce.

Fru Nimb is named after Louie Nimb, who in the 19th century ran a number of restaurants, at the time of rapid expansions of the culinary scene. Fru Nimb was opened in 1909 and quickly became one of the city's most prominent places, and it's still going strong.
We started with a celebratory glass of bubbly, cheering to a good health, friendships and endless adventures.
Their menu has over 50 different 'smørrebrød' (rye bread) to choose from. My friend opted for a warm fried herring with caramalised onions, served with a classic rye bread. She absolutely loved it.
For main, we both ordered puff pastry tarts with chicken and asparagus in white sauce topped with fried chicken skin and parsley. It was insanely good, without a doubt one of the tastiest dishes I have ever had.
Fru Nimb has a very impressive selection of their homemade aquavits. Since we had to try some, I chose rose and geranium and my friend a berry flavour. Very strong, it certainly gave us the kick we needed to brave the freezing weather outside.
Cinnamon cheesecake with orange jelly. Rich, sweet, cheesy, spicy with a hint of zesty orange, simply beautiful.
Excellent food, flawless service, lovely staff and a great ambience, without a doubt a must-visit place in Copenhagen.

Nimb has a few restaurants/bars to choose from:

Fru Nimb - traditionally Danish, Brasserie - French classic, Bar'n'Grill - steakhouse, Nimb Terrasse - seasonal cuisine and Nimb Bar - cocktail bar and Vinotek - wine bar for those who are more thirsty than hungry. There is something for everyone.
Feeling warm and satisfied, we said our goodbyes.

And then, we entered the wonderful world of Tivoli Gardens to soak up the magic of Christmas.
Oh look, wine-o'clock! Time to try Danish Glögg.
A very special day spent with a best friend eating delicious food and getting seriously excited about Christmas.

Thanks to Fru Nimb for supporting me on my visit to Copenhagen. As always, all photos and opinions are my own. To experience it for yourself, visit their website here
